How, for example, will this law affect the\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/zyalt.livejournal.com\/283085.html?thread=15185869\" target=\"_blank\">annual celebration of Paratrooper Day<\/a><span>, when, all over the country, thousands of former paratroopers get drunk, strip to their skivvies, and frolic in city fountains, splashing and wetly embracing? Is that homosexual propaganda? And, as a Russian friend pointed out to me, what about the\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.foreignpolicy.com\/articles\/2011\/09\/26\/end_of_the_bromance?page=0,5\" target=\"_blank\">ruling tandem<\/a><span>? When Dmitry Medvedev and Vladimir Putin\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.foreignpolicy.com\/articles\/2011\/09\/26\/end_of_the_bromance?page=0,14\" target=\"_blank\">go bike riding together<\/a><span>, when they have\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.studiolum.com\/wang\/russian\/putin-medvedev-breakfast-05.jpg\" target=\"_blank\">intimate public breakfasts<\/a><span>, when they are forced to\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2010\/04\/27\/world\/europe\/27russia.html\" target=\"_blank\">deny that they\u2019re married<\/a><span>, when they\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.foreignpolicy.com\/articles\/2011\/09\/26\/end_of_the_bromance?page=0,15\" target=\"_blank\">play badminton<\/a><span>,\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.foreignpolicy.com\/articles\/2011\/09\/26\/end_of_the_bromance?page=0,9\" target=\"_blank\">when they<\/a><span>\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/img.timeinc.net\/time\/photoessays\/2010\/putin_medvedev_ski\/putin_ski_01.jpg\" target=\"_blank\">ski<\/a><span>\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sbs.com.au\/news\/public\/php\/resize.php?id\/142197\/w\/300\/h\/225\/site_1_rand_1180236735_putin_medvedev_skiing_b_100104_ap.jpg\" target=\"_blank\">drink cocoa<\/a><span>\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.foreignpolicy.com\/articles\/2011\/09\/26\/end_of_the_bromance?page=0,17\" target=\"_blank\">fish<\/a><span>, often in matching outfits and in the total absence of women, what about that?<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Gay Rights in Russia And yet, under the seriousness of fomenting hatred and inscribing discrimination into the legal code, there has also been a streak of irony and humor in the response to this development.
